Easy to grow, shade tolerant climbing vine native to Japan, China, and Korea. Exotic, bright green leaves with beautiful and fragrant reddish-purple flowers. Foliage is semi-evergreen in warmer climates. Edible purple fruits have a slight coconut flavor
Sun: Full sun, but will tolerate shade.
Soil: Loamy soil with neutral pH, but tolerates both acidic and alkaline soil.
Water: Chocolate vine is drought resistant but does benefit from regular water.
Zones: 4 to 8.
Height/Spread: Chocolate Vine grows to be 20 to 40 feet tall with a spread of 6 to 9 feet.
*Note: This plant is considered invasive in some parts of the US. Do not plant where it can spread into natural areas or crowd out native plants.
