Cornelian Cherry Tree (Cornus mas) *Multiple Sizes and Varietals Available*

from $15.00

This small deciduous tree produces showy yellow flowers in early spring and dark green leaves.  Edible fruits are small, red one-seeded berries, great used for syrups and preserves.

The Elegant (TM) varietal bears a lot of large, sweet, red, edible fruit. Good for eating fresh or to use in pies.

Sun: Partial to full sun.

Soil: While they do well in a variety of soils, they prefer fertile, well-draining soil with a pH of 5.5-7.5

Water: When rainfall is light, water newly transplanted plants deeply at least once a week during the first growing season. Apply 3-4 gallons of water per plant. Hoe a small ridge of soil around each tree to keep water from running off.

Zones: 4 to 8.

Height/Spread: Cornelian Cherry trees will grow to 15 to 25 feet high by 12 to 18 feet wide.
