Herbaceous perennial with edible and medicinal leaves.  Light purple flowers are attractive to pollinators.  Multiple varieties available - see additional info.

Sun: Full sun.

Soil: Loves dry soils.

Water: A fairly drought-tolerant herb. When looking wilted, a little water will perk the plant right up.

Zones: 4 to 8.

Culinary (Salvia officinalis) - most common sage, aromatic gray-green leaves

Russian (Perovskia atriplicifolia) - longer stems on plants up to 5' tall

Bergartten (Salvia officinalis 'Berggarten') - similar to culinary sage, round blue-green leaves

Pineapple (Salvia elegans 'Golden Delicious') - yellowish leaves with a slight pineapple aroma and flavor
