Red Twig dogwood, also called Bloodtwig or Midwinter Fire dogwood, is known for its fiery orange twigs. This characteristic makes this shrub wonderful for winter interest.

Foliage: Fall

Bloom: Summer, early

Fruit: Summer-Fall (red berries)

Twigs: Winter.

Sun: Partial shade.

Soil/Water: It is very adaptable to a wide range of soils but prefers well-drained soil.

Spread/Height: Full-sized Red Twig Dogwood will reach 6’ tall by 6’ wide.

Zones: 1 to 7

Potential Pests: When stressed, dogwoods are vulnerable to dogwood anthracnose, powdery mildew, leaf spot, canker, root rot and leaf, twig blight, borers, and to a lesser extent, leaf miners and scale. White-tailed deer are attracted to dogwood foliage.
