Shrub with sweet, dark-blue berries.

Sun: Salal grows best in partial shade. Salal grown in full sun will not grow to be very tall.

Soil: Moist, acidic soil.

Water: Water as necessary during dry weather to keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. 

Zones: 5 to 9.

Height/Spread: When mature, will grow up to 16 feet tall and up to 10 feet wide.
