Arnica plants, also known as mountain tobacco, leopard’s bane and wolfbane, are perennial herbs that bloom in May and June with yellow, daisy-like flowers.

Arnica is a medicinal herb that is commonly used in salves. It is meant to be used topically and is NOT to be used on open wounds or ingested internally.

Sun: Arnica can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade.

Soil: Arnica can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils. It prefers well-drained soil and can grow in nutritionally poor soil.

Water: Arnica prefers moist soil.

Height/Spread: Mature Arnica reaches 1 to 2 feet.

Zones:  1 to 9

Potential Pests: Arnica is prone to diseases when grown in high humidity. Potential pests include looper caterpillars, snails, and rabbits, and phoma.
